Due to some strong recommendations of friends with over 250+yrs of experience in running at the Bonneville Salt Falts in Utah, our initial streamliner will utilize four wheels and utilize Ducati engines. More details as to why later — but we have a lot of platform engineering, aerodynamics, engine configuration, drivetrain and most importantly in actually making speed passes down the salt at Bonneville. We are still doing the 2-wheel motorcycle Ducati powered streamliner, but will delay it to give us more time and experience in working with the aerodynamic design and chassis engineering to make a safe but fast streamliner.

Thus get ready for August 2013 — we will start sorting Team Hyperliner on the salt and making some great sounds and speeds hopefully!

For those asking how you go 300mph+ using a Ducati engine — hopefully lots of horsepower but two major limitations are the Ducati crankcase (and bearings) and the small diameter cylinder head stud bolts. Both are items to be addressed. Aerodynamics is the biggest obstacle in play and thus a design with the rider sitting at ground level in front of the engine itself is mandatory and for stability.

More upcoming: sponsorship opportunities (individuals and business); gyroscope discussion; meeting with some old salt dogs with 70+ years of Bonneville/Muroc racing experience; plus discussion about aerodynamics and stability controls; and how to address the limitations within the Ducati engine itself…

As many friends and a few customers know, it’s been a long past few years for my grandfather “Toby”. Today his battle came to a peaceful end. Hopefully he (and my grandmother — RIP) are on the road somewhere cruising along and smiling and laughing as they go into the sunset.

Remember two young lovers in the 1930′s would require something very dapper to drive. (and my grandfather loved the cars) Auburn Speedsters, Duesenbergs, Cords, Figoni&Falaschi European specials and what are now called “American Sports Custom” were also cruising the hills of Hollywood with Clarke Gable, Cary Grant and more. Here is my idea on what I think my grandfather would have found cool to have been courting my grandmother in at the time…

(note: we are going to be closed for a day or two to decompress… Thanks)

Pictures from last March 2011 — this one-off MonoBoom for the Sport Classic has been sitting on the storage shelf since. Custom one-off built stepped/oversize headers merged into a 2-1 collector and then routed into a heavily modified factory exhaust can (cored / shortened and repacked). Use of the “factory can” was to keep all legal EPA sound level stampings in case of “visual inspection”.

Is the system “legal” — no. It’s a one-off custom built system. It “might” pass a visual inspection. A few customers we built these for have had zero problems though. Use at your own risk.

A few years ago, we built a few of these MonoBoom 2-1 systems for the S2R800 and S2R1000 using an owner supplied exhaust can or a new MotoCreations exhaust can with our own machined tip configuration. Although I really like them and loved the deep Boom sound — they weren’t popular for some reason. Maybe the marketplace upcoming might be interested now? (if so — let me know)

This single one-off set though is available currently for the mono-version of the Sport Classic. We just need to weld spring clips, ceramic coat (choose either black or titanium color) and then repack the baffle and rivet together. Price is $1850 plus shipping. (note: if system doesn’t sell by end of month, we will entertain offers for it only then)
