Ducati Hyperliner

As many of you all know, I have the desire to go back to the Bonneville Salt Flats in the upcoming future and to get a Ducati powered streamliner into the 200+ mph club. To do it though we will need to find sponsorship (corporate and private) to fund a 3-year effort to make happen. Here is a non-functional concept to generate a bit of interest for now…

One of the highlights of the past few months while injured was getting care packages from people to brighten my spirit — so thanks Jimski, David, Thor and others! Also received this package via Jerry in Germany of what I … Continue reading

Tuesday update

Tuesday update. Still cleaning / moving things about in the shop and getting organized again. Had to rebuild and raise all the exhaust fabrication benches 10-22″ higher due to my new physical limitations. Another two days and we will start contacting everyone back on getting exhaust orders processed and get those being built in queue and delivered!

Also been in quite a few meetings lately for 2012 items. We have some new products that are being finalized and will start appearing at the end of the month. Given the enthusiasm of the few who have had sneakpeaks, vendors and more — I think they will be popular and priced right. (and available for immediate shipment!)

Also more headway has been made on Carbonguy parts and more updates upcoming on that when applicable.  I think these items will make a lot of Ducatista happy in regard to the options they will have available that Ducati hasn’t necessarily addressed properly.

Back to work!

Black Fog — spring wakeup

Mike just rolled out “Black Fog” from it’s Winter hiberation — and posted a YouTube video of the first run down the road for the season. Most Ducatista forget the horrific condition he originally acquired this S4 Ducati Monster “Foggy” as it was literally salvage before being shipped to us for rebuild. For those who have followed its story, this was the first Ducati Monster that became well known via the Internet for this style of custom exhaust which we now call “BoomTubes”. (we did variations of for our DesmoDevil’s and a turbocharged Monster prior) It varies differently in what we sell today due to no crossover, no baffles, the unique routing for the 996 swingarm with the S4 engine — and was built using various Ducati exhaust systems sections of tubing. It has a unique sound without question and is unmistakeable when heard.

Interesting tidbit: Over the years I know of a few Ducatista who have written down the part numbers from the Black Fog exhaust system and then contacted their Ducati dealership or myself to purchase. I will admit today that I left all the parts numbers on the system to make it look more “factory” — I never imagined someone would try to order one via the numbers!

Although I will repost the Black Fog rebuild upcoming underneath the projects — here’s the short YouTube video via Mike from a few days ago: (thx for posting Mike!)

Elizabeth Raab — artwork and photography

I met Elizabeth a few years ago in Seattle at the CycleWorld show and then later at an open house of her studio.  Although I knew of her well before due to her much Ducati forums discussed calendar and it’s showcasing of Ducati motorcycles as art objects with her unique vision of color, imagery, lighting and behind-the-camera skills.  One day upcoming I am hopefully going to tap her creative talents to apply upon some of our past projects and upcoming ones for debut later this year.  In the interim though — definitely take a look at her website (www.ElizabethRaab.com) and some of her Ducati artwork available (www.ArtofBrands.com).  Also don’t hesitate to give her a whistle (or pass her name along) if you are looking for unique imagery for your business (it will undoubtedly generate good publicity), photoshoots (magazine/publishing/web/advertising) or for personal contract as well.  I’d definitely like to see her talents utilized and exposed to more people upcoming!

Rough Prototype part — turn signal lens

One of the many items we have been working on is how to create a new turn signal lens with diffuser. Here is a rough prototype as cnc’d. We need to play with the concept a bit further to get a curved lens assembly next. The basic concepts of this will be incorporated into products to be finished upcoming. Just a sneak peak of what goes on behind the scenes as it were…
